Used Metal Lathes

Atlas 10″ metal lathe

By · Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I just bought this Atlas 10″ TH42 lathe. It had so much old oil or grease crud that you could hardly move the carriage.. I took it apart, cleaned it and oiled it up and now all the parts move freely. I dont know anything about lathes …yet! I’ll probably use this more for wood. It also came with some tools, gears and the original manual.I also just greased the gears and now it is way more quieter than in the video…. I wrote a little more about it at woodworkerspost.com in the metal working section.

Great lathe, but can become very expensive with the extra tooling. Milling machine might be just as useful, maybe more.

Im looking to buy one of these myself.
