Do Metric threads on A Lathe Specs go by pitch or total length in mm?

By · Monday, January 9th, 2012

I need to thread a muzzle break on an HK Barrel and its 16mm x 1.0 pitch Right Hand.. The lathe my friend has shows it cuts 29 metric threads in the range of 0.2-4.5mm. I know threads by TPI per/inch, but do these metric specs refer to length or Thread Pitch in mm?

16mm is the major diameter.
1.0mm is the distance between threads…../\ to /\

I believe that BBean called it…but you might want to test drive the muzzle brake on a scrap piece of threaded stock to prove it.
