@mrartwatcher Yeah but that is where is came from the factory. The wiring is so old on this machine that I am afraid to mess with it. I will wind up rewiring the whole thing if I start to move that switch. I know what you are saying but I think not for now.

hey Kevin the power switch is not in a safe place . the old lathe is in such good condition because it took the arm off of the last operator in 1950 and was never used since. i like you videos . please move the switch to the front on a flexible limited mount at 10 inches within waist level .
@tobsco2 Cool, I will give it a look.
Thanks for the tip….
Hey Kevin, next time you get the chance try using free machining brass, it produces short flaky little chips, doesn’t need any lubrication and is a pleasure to use. Also look into all the patination chemicals available for brass, I reckon you could make some beautiful things with them.
@101numlock The six jaw is a Chinese cheapie. Got it off the internet for $200.00 new. Had to make the base plate to bolt it up to the lathe. They could’nt supply the right one so I got to play machinist.
“Enough to buy a six pack” Ha Ha. Nice work Kev.
what make and model is that chuck?

@MrMldillman Brings back manybeeat memorys my friend!!
Most great, some not so much….
Very cool. I want to see the finished piece, too!
Kevin, Make sure you show us the finished product.
I have a lathe on order and am in need of any and all tips.
As always, thanks for the video!
Be careful you can easily crush the container when you first hollow it out and then work the bottom side. You may make a mandril to fill the container first.
Ahh yes, your first time with brass… you always remember your first time with anything, don’t you Kevin..? =)
