Here is our first try at turning a wood spindle out of a treated 4×4. Not the best wood for turning, but cheap to practice on. We took the first try at real slow feed rates and very shallow cut depths. After this turing we found out we could take easily up to 1/2″ per pass. Next video will show this. We will be adding more machining options to the lathe for doing barley twist and other decorative options.
I have already cut the bottles with a wet tile saw, what i’m trying to do is use the spinning action of the lathe to aid in efficiently and quickly sanding the rims down. As far as the wood chuck goes, do you think it’ll be sufficient enough to hold the cut bottle from the bottom?
Thanks!
Made my Daughter a wand on our wood lathe. Painted it black and sanded it back down to make it look old. used the polisher on the main part. Ive been watching iamnecraweyengehl videos and the dremmel is harder than it looks so I had to stick with the lathe and sand paper, I’ll practice a bit and see if I can get the hang of it. So thanks iamnecraweyengehl and omgitsBenjamin for some great videos of super tight wands they made.
